The Transformation Room invites viewers to leave their world and enter an unexpected place of radiant contemplation. Surrounded by light that filters through hand-cut imagery on wall panels of white Tyvek (a nonwoven, polyethylene fabric), viewers become part of Thomas's narrative. The suspended ceiling element enfolds the room in shadowy, meditative patterns.
For this version of The Transformation Room, Thomas has cut new panels responding to the Collegiate Gothic windows of the Arthur Ross Gallery, introducing color to reference the history of stained glass. Three hand-blown and sandblasted glass vessels stand at the base of these windows.
