Claire Oliver Gallery is thrilled to announce LOOP, an art and culture-focused block-wide art exhibition and cultural experience taking place in the heart of Miami’s Overtown District. Centered around Claire Oliver Gallery’s 5000 feet of beautiful gallery space at 919 NW 2nd Ave Miami FL 33136 (across from Red Rooster Overtown) acting as the central hub of activity for the week of November 28 - December 3, the Gallery is featuring an exhibition of new works by artists Gio Swaby, Stan Squirewell, Simone Saunders, Lauren Fensterstock, Aaron T Stephan, Barbara Earl Thomas, Robert Peterson, and Jeffrey Henson Scales.
LOOP extends far beyond the gallery walls, activating an entire block of Overtown to create an ambitious and interdisciplinary showcase of the artists’ creative work. LOOP features a powerful performance by Mumu Fresh at the historic Lyric Theatre, an over-the-top fashion show collaboration between gallery artists and fashion icons BruceGlen, large-scale installations of photography by Jeffrey Henson scales and Photoville, whiskey tastings by Rabbit Hole, and many other exciting surprises announced daily. Please join us in inaugurating our Overtown Gallery space and have a first look at the exciting new works we have all been waiting for by the Gallery's brilliant artists.
Overtown was a vibrant hub for the Miami Black community. Founded at the end of the 19th century, Overtown is a former beacon of culture and economic prosperity that has experienced the blight of poverty in recent decades. Harlem’s Claire Oliver Gallery aims to join with Miami’s cultural leaders, Overtown community stakeholders, and conscientious developers to offer an entirely unique experience that complements the rich and vibrant cultural heritage of the neighborhood known as the “Harlem of the South.” LOOP Overtown is made possible with the support of the Southeast Overtown/ Park West Community Redevelopment Agency
